The River Tay is renowned for its Atlantic salmon. And we have the largest beat on the whole river. Spanning just under three miles of prime, middle Tay salmon fishing, it’s easy to see why anglers from all over the world come to fish and stay with us. But get to know us a bit better, and you’ll find there’s a whole lot more to a stay at Dalmarnock.
We’re Colin and Isabel McFadyen and we left our city lives behind us for the little piece of heaven we have here, at Dalmarnock. We’re a real family business and we work together to give our guests the best Scottish experience we can. Isabel can be found working her magic in Woodlands Cottage, where you’ll experience a true ‘home from home’. Colin is an angler, through and through, and he’s been ghillie on the Dalmarnock beat for almost a decade. So in 2014, we decided to take on the entire beat ourselves. And we’ve been welcoming guests from all over the world, ever since.
You’ll find us a few minutes from Dunkeld and a short drive from Pitlochry. Just where the glen opens up to reveal spectacular views of the Tay Valley. Even if you’ve no interest in salmon fishing, there’s something irresistible in the magic of the glen.
Our almost three-mile stretch of the River Tay has 15 named pools, covering much of the finest spinning and fly fishing waters in Scotland. And thanks to the sheer length and depth of the Tay, we have fresh fish here all year round – giving us excellent fishing from January through to October. So whether you’re casting your first line or after a big Tay springer, Colin can take you exactly where you need to be.
We have two Tay boats for traditional harling, excellent disabled access, and our own luxury fishing lodge complete with woodburning stove, cooking facilities and a WC.
